Flipped Classroom

Flipped Classroom? What is that? is that a class that can flip? or something else? I really do not have any idea of this classroom. Flipped classroominverts the traditional teaching method, delivering instruction online outside of class and moving "homework" into the classroom.

I haven't experienced any of flipped classroom if I'm not mistake. I just had a normal classroom: in class, teachers and lecturers explain the materials and we had our homework. From what I have experienced, there are a lot of homework and sometime I don't understand what does it mean and I do not know the answers. when I have this situation, the least  can do was asking my parents.

If this kind of classroom applied in Indonesia, I don't think all school can do that, especially the students. IF it is international or national plus school, it still make any sense that the students can do that because the majority of international and national plus school students are advantages. what if it is public school? I am not stereotyping the public school but the majority of public school is clever students, 50 percents are advantages, 50 percents are disadvantages. So how we faced it if we have flipped classroom? to applied flipped classroom, we have to have equipments; laptop or computer, cellphone, quota.
For now, I think it is not effective, but later on, I believe that Indonesia could be better country in education system.
To e honest, the technique is simple for the teacher. the teacher is only "videoing" or record the explanation like in the classroom. but it will take a long time to record because the teacher will nervous or what ever it is. also it will extra time, for example, at home, the teacher supposed to  take rest, but, because of flipped classroom, the teacher should make videos about the material. classroom is has a big affect factors in the success for students. To study the material, they can watch the video at home, with no policy. you can watch it with sleeping, eating, etc. after you watch the video, you have to memorize the material, at least we understand what the video about.

The video editing : I use edpuzzle. the advantages is you can put directly the videos from YouTube without downloading it and in the same time, you can also put the questions while watching.  the drawback is it need a high connection of internet.

I use music as the topic. But I put the specific person; Alan Walker. why I talk about him? as we know that he is one of the famous DJ. but what make him different from the other DJ is very special. He is not a musician before. he did not have music background at all! but why he can be a famous DJ, and people almost like his songs. That is what I want to share with my students.
who is the target students? from children to adults. so first, the introduction, I will do it at classroom. I will explain who it goes. the second, i will give them a link about my explanations. all they have to do is watch it and write the important points. next week, I will give them exercises about what I have explained in the video. It will like that until the end of the semester. If they have any difficulties, they can ask me via online or offline or meet me directly and explain what the troubles they have faced.

Good luck for you and for me!

  1. Hai Pricilli!
I'm agree with you about that we never experienced flipped classroom. Actually maybe there are no Indonesian school used flipped classroom. Before I learnt about this, I never heard a word about flipped classroom, so I'm do surprised to hear about it.
I like the way you explained the difference between public school and national plus or International school. I also agree with you that students in public school would have a hard time to change their school's classroom system to flipped classroom. Maybe students in national plus and international school would accept it better because they expected different things from public school.
Thank you! That's all from me!
    Waiting for the next one!
